My Trip to Belgium – Blue diamonds in Antwerp

Sarah in Antwerp, BelgiumMy name is Sarah and I am a diamond merchant. I come from a family with the long tradition in diamond trade. Our family business has been engaged in the diamonds trade for decades.

Since Belgium is one of the most important diamond centers of the World, I travel there for business pretty often. Antwerp in Belgium is the World’s main diamond center. Did you know that over $16 billion in polished diamonds pass through the Antwerp’s famous diamond district’s exchanges each year? If you are a diamond fan, do not leave out a visit to the diamond district when you come to Antwerp in Belgium!

Last month I visited Brussels and Antwerp and even though I worked a lot, I spent a wonderful time during my visit. I rented a lovely modern holiday apartment near the Avenue Louise or Rue Souveraine in Brussels and I enjoyed every moment of my stay in this amazing city. My rental flat was very bright and spacious, with large windows and beautiful trendy furniture and I simply felt as at home. In addition, there were all the modern conveniences provided in my holiday apartment ( TV and DVD, air condition, the Internet, the fridge, stove, microwave etc.), which made my stay truly comfortable.

From Brussels I went to Antwerp, where I bought a beautiful ring with the blue diamond in the Antwerp’s diamond district, also known as the Diamond Quarter. The Diamond district consists of several square blocks and about 80% of the world’s rough diamonds pass through this Diamond Quarter every year. Blue diamonds are very important to me because I got a blue diamond ring from my parents on my birth. Unfortunately, I lost it few years ago. Since natural colored diamonds are very rare and expensive, and blue is one of the rarest colors, it took me a pretty while to find another one. Therefore, I can not describe how excited I was when I saw that blue diamond ring in a jewelry store in Antwerp.

Next month I am traveling to Belgium again. I don’t have any doubt where to stay next time. I have already booked my holiday apartment in Brussels!
